The CAPS offers support for the families of the users, as support for the main difficulties faced for the family, as well as the lack of information etc. The Social Assistant offers orientation to the families of the users of mental upheavals, then such users will have quality in the treatment better. Thus being, this research intends to contribute for the analysis of the performance of the professional Social Assistant in the CAPS. The universe of the research was constituted by familiar of the users of the CAPS. The first one I capitulate backwards the introduction. As the chapter presents a historical briefing of what it was the Psychiatric Reformation in Brazil, and as the desinstitucionalzao process happened, and how much the Sanitary Reformation contributed when conquering that the health is one ' ' right of the citizen and duty of the Estado' ' to finish the chapter we will speak of the Politics of Mental Health in Brazil that was of basic importance for the efetivao of the CAPS.
